UK to launch Clean Heat Market Mechanism in 2024

The UK government to launch Clean Heat Market Mechanism during 2024.

Following a consultation earlier this year Opens in a new window, the UK Government are to introduce a Clean Heat Market Mechanism in 2024.

As part of the Government’s response to the consultation, there will be a mechanism whereby manufacturers will be required to install a number of heat pumps as a proportion of fossil fuel boilers sold per year. In the first year from April 2024 that will be 4%.

Update: 8 May 2024: A Government press release Opens in a new window about the Boiler Upgrade Scheme also announced that the plans to introduce a Clean Heat Market Mechanism will be delayed until 2025.
