Buy It Direct, owner of online retailer Appliances Direct, has been fined £37,500 following legal action taken by the Environment Agency.

The news was welcomed by REFCOM Opens in a new window, one of the industry certification bodies.

The company was found to be in breach of F-gas regulation Article 11 Paragraph 5, which requires that equipment charged with fluorinated greenhouse gases only be sold to an end user when installation will be carried out by a someone with a valid F-Gas qualification. Checkmark refers to this requirement in our information pages.

At Checkmark, we fully support the laws affecting purchase, sale and handling of F-gases. We think the Earth’s atmosphere should be protected.
